As part of the Chilli, Cheese and Chocolate Festival Nicola Beardmore will be talking about her background in cheese, the history of cheese, the process of making cheese, her dairy visits (she has visited Cheddar Gorge amongst other creameries to make and grade with them) and the British Cheese and Dairy Industry.
Nicola has been in the cheese industry for around two and a half years. Since being a guest at the British Cheese Awards in 2017 due to her previous job as a deli supervisor she has gone on to judge at various cheese awards including the World Cheese Awards in Norway in November of 2018.
In 2018 she also won the national award of Young Cheesemonger of the Year after battling it out at the British Cheese Awards amongst 9 other finalists.
She not only judges but due to her strong feelings about education in the food (particularly dairy) industry she also does talks as well as doing dairy work whenever she can.
Nicola has just had a slight career change, she now works for a company called Ornua Foods as a Cheese Grader where she assists on the quality assurance of the cheese as well as working up towards doing taste panels and meetings with leading supermarkets.
This event will take place in the outdoor classroom at 1.30pm
