6 Week Gardening Course

Join Zdenek Valkoun-Walker, our Head Gardener for a 6 week course to develop your gardening skills. This course is suitable for those new to gardening or experienced gardeners who are keen to learn more.

The course will take you through how to assess your garden, planning borders, maintaining and pruning, propagation and weed control. The final session will be about lawn management and care. At the end of each session there will be seasonal tip – What you can do in your garden this week.

The course starts on Tuesday 4th February 2020 and will run every Tuesday afternoon for 6 weeks from 1 – 3.30 pm. It will be a mixture of theory and practical learning. Places are limited to 12.

The course programme in detail:-

4th February
Assess Your Garden How to assess your garden – identify soil type, aspect, situation and areas to develop.
The essential tool kit for the gardener.
Developing a plan for the season.

11th February
Enhance Your Garden
Planning a new border.
How to enhance your garden.

18th February
Grow Your Own Garden
Focus on propagation. Grow your own garden from cuttings and growing plants from seed and splitting.

25th February
Get The Best Out Of Your Shrubs
Rose care. Pruning and feeding.
Fruit tree and shrub maintenance.

3rd March
On Going Garden Care
Border maintenance.
Weed management
Soil husbandry and composting.

10th March
Verdant Lawns
Lawn care and maintenance. Edging and cutting.
