Benefits of Practising Mindfulness:
People who regularly implement mindfulness strategies may find lasting physical and psychological benefits, such as:
• Increased experience of calm and relaxation
• Higher levels of energy and enthusiasm for living
• Increased self-confidence, self-acceptance and self-care
• Less danger of experiencing stress, depression, anxiety, chronic pain, addiction or low immune efficiency
• More self-compassion and compassion for others, and our planet
Kathy McCrae completed training to teach Mindfulness in 2018. She talks in terms of “Embodying mindfulness compassionately, with an open and beginner’s mind.”
Kathy will be here at Dorothy Clive Garden facilitating a course of 8 sessions commencing Friday 20th March 2020 from 10.30am to 3.30pm, every Friday excluding the bank holiday dates. The course is based on Jon Kabat-Zinn’s mindfulness based stress reduction and is experiential, during the course all offers and invitations to take part in the exercises will be individuals’ choice; Kathy always has an awareness of participants’ and, her own, self-care.
Taster of Some of the ‘Activities’ included in the Sessions:
Meditations, poems, short silences, mindful eating, minimal food preparation, discussion, time to reflect, reminders, invitations, for example: to keep a personal journal for the duration, music, creativity, increasing awareness of senses, mindfulness walking (some, but not all of the above, will necessarily be encompassed in every or in one session! But some will be!).
Worthy of Note:
There will be short breaks and a break for lunch. As a group we will negotiate and agree on relevant points, ensuring a most enjoyable and fulfilling experience. There are 8 places available. All fees paid will be donated to the Garden for its invaluable presence to us all.
Please note that the tutor has requested an initial brief welcome chat with all those who are interested in attending the course.
