Happy National Nest Box Week
We will be celebrating National Nest Box Week at the Dorothy Clive Garden this Sunday 19th Feb from 10am to 4pm and are inviting you to join us!
Natural nest sites for birds such as holes in trees or old buildings are disappearing fast as gardens are ‘tidied’ and old houses are repaired. Taking part in NNBW gives you the chance to contribute to bird conservation whilst giving you the pleasure of observing any breeding birds that you attract to your nest box.
You will be able to learn about the benefits of encouraging native birds to your garden, through a series of interactive and educational activities such as an educational ‘Bird Trail’ around the garden, making Nest Boxes and Bird Feeders to take home & learning about how to create a wildlife friendly garden.
This event promotes environmental sustainability through the care of birds and wildlife.
You will be able to see and touch real Owls and other Birds of Prey in the outdoor classroom, including Pip and Fizz from The Battlefield Falconry Centre. It is the perfect opportunity to get into the fresh air and involved in some educational and family friendly activities. You will not only create useful resources for birds, but a chance to learn about how to identify different bird species in your gardens at home.
Our tearoom will be open all weekend where you can buy homemade Broccoli and Stilton soup, sandwiches, toasties, paninis and breakfast buns, plus homemade scones including sultana, cherry and savoury flavours.
Come and enjoy a garden for all seasons. Admission is £5.00 for adults and £2.00 for children between 5-17 years. Children between 0-4 years and members of the Dorothy Clive Garden are admitted for free.
