The Dorothy Clive Garden was created with love – and has flourished for nearly 70 years thanks to the care of people like you. Now, we have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to extend this beautiful sanctuary and deepen its role in our community.

We purchased 3.4 acres of adjacent land which, with your help, is already being transformed into a thriving arboretum – home to distinctive tree collections, new paths to explore, and countless opportunities for learning and reflection.

Our Vision

We are slowing transforming former farmland into a vibrant new national collection of trees and a haven for learning, biodiversity, and wellbeing.

This will result in us:

  • Creating a nationally recognised collection of trees, shrubs and wildflowers
  • Supporting climate resilience and increase biodiversity
  • Providing a living classroom for education and training
  • Offering space for reflection, relaxation and improved wellbeing
  • Extending the length of our garden walkways
  • Enhancing the sustainability of the garden for future generations

The Challenge

We need to raise significant funds in order to redevelop our new land from farmland to woodland garden.

We have already raised almost £40,000 but require further funds to cover:

  • Purchase of seeds, bulbs, shrubs and trees
  • Earthworks and grass seeding
  • Pathway creation and fencing
  • Gardeners and contractors
  • Educational signage, benches and artworks

CAMPAIGN UPDATES

Our new organic gardeners arrived in July - a wonderful flock of sheep naturally fertilising the ground and keeping the grass trimmed!

Due to the generosity of visitors, our local community and funders we have raised almost £40,000 already for the new arboretum.

In April tractor work began, turning in the old crop, levelling the ground, drilling in new seed and rolling it all smooth!

At the end of February the fencing construction was complete, securely enclosing the site.
