Sunday Lecture- ‘Chemistry in The Garden’

October 11 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Do geopolitics threaten your geums?
Might daffodils be lurking in your drug cabinet?
Can plants help carbon be car-gone?
Katherine Haxton, Senior Lecturer in Chemistry at Keele University will present a talk on the chemistry that stalks the garden. We will look at how the overlap of the molecular and gardening worlds make better medicines, tastier food and enable us to tackle several key global challenges.
Based on over two decades of teaching chemistry to a wide range of audiences and collecting eclectic chemical facts, Katherine will give a gentle introduction to how chemistry enables our gardens to flourish.
